We sang a wonderful old hymn in church last night. I love the words-
My faith has found a resting place,
Not in device nor creed;
I trust the Everliving One,
His wounds for me shall plead.
I need no other argument,
I need no other plea,
It is enough that Jesus died,
And that He died for me.
The preaching of the gospel should bind us together. It holds out hope for peace and offers us a true resting place. Let's purpose to make the main thing - the main thing. See ya'll at F.A.I.T.H tonight.

Great hymn!! How is FAITH going for you guys?
Perry:
We will begin our third round of FAITH in the fall. We are visiting in teams during the summer. Our experience has been a positive one. We had a traditional "ya'll come" visitation program for a number of years. That meant few came and even fewer felt prepared to share the gospel. We decided we would try FAITH. FAITH is a current manifestation of an old concept - small groups of people joined together for discipleship, fellowship and ministry. We have adopted what I call the "McRaney qualifer". It is taken from Will McRaney's "The Art of Personal Evangelism." He said, "Memorized presentations can be helpful to the witness but not because he will ever make a complete presentation. Learning a presentation or gospel outline will provide those who witness with additional confidence as they enter and provide direction to the evangelistic dialogue." We focus on dialogue, service, relationships, etc.
In short I would say that FAITH has helped us in a number of ways but it is not a "magic bullet." If you guys try it, you will probably change it a bit (ooo, don't tell anybody). If you are looking for a healthy evangelistic program (ooo, don't call it a program) I would suggest FAITH as a starting place. God bless.
I was on the web-site today. It is a good one. But the reason I am bringing it up is I noticed Jan is on your staff. She was came and did her program for me when I was in TN. It was at Bird's Creek Baptist Church in Paris, TN. We will definitely talk off line about that one. Tell her I said hello.

I'll tell her you said hello. She is in Illinois this week working with a Baptist association. If you ever want to send a private e-mail (mattwcc@aol.com) don't hesitate.
